Shoot ‘love jihad’ culprits in the chest in public: Madhya Pradesh minister Vishwas Sarang

BHOPAL: In an apparent advocacy of extra-judicial killing, Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Vishwas Sarang on Saturday said that those involved in ‘love jihad‘ should be publicly shot dead.
The minister’s remark came a day after a suspect in a rape-and-blackmail case, Farhan Khan, suffered a bullet wound to the leg while allegedly trying to snatch a pistol from a police officer in a bid to escape from custody.
“Why did they shoot him in the leg? They should have shot him in the chest. Such people have no right to live,” said Sarang, minister for sports and youth affairs. He is a four-time lawmaker from Narela constituency in Bhopal.
“Those who are involved in bad deeds like love jihad and raping minor girls don’t have the right to live in this country or the state. They are a burden on this land,” he said.
Farhan was being escorted to Sehore to recreate a crime scene when he tried to grab an SI’s pistol. In the ensuing scuffle, the gun went off and he was shot in the right leg, said police. He is in hospital.
Sarang reiterated, “I will say that it was wrong to shoot him in the leg. They should have shot him through his chest. We must make sure that such culprits are shot, and a message should be given that such miscreants will not be forgiven. Shoot them publicly and end it.”
