JODHPUR: In an unexpected twist, students of MBM Engineering University were left bewildered when their BE II semester results revealed scores surpassing the maximum possible marks in both practical and sessional sections. The anomaly, which saw marks ranging from 103 to 137 in 100-mark papers, prompted immediate action from the university administration. The results were swiftly withdrawn from the website, and an explanation was demanded from the private agency responsible for the online result preparation and uploading. Exam controller Anil Gupta attributed the issue to a technical error during the uploading process. The corrected results are set to be released shortly, ensuring students receive their accurate scores. Results of the BE II semester were declared by MBM Engineering University in Jodhpur Wednesday. Students were left in shock and confusion as their marks were higher than the maximum in both practical and sessional sections.Gupta said a technical error led to the uploading of results by the agency. “As soon as the issue was brought to our notice, we immediately directed the online cell to remove it from the site and also issued a notice to them seeking an explanation for this error,” he said. The exam for the BE II semester was held in May this year, in which 800 students appeared. Not only that, the totals of the marks did not match up. Total marks for theory subjects were also incorrect. For example, one student was awarded more than 100 marks in five subjects. In engineering mechanics lab subject, the student received 137 marks out of 100, and for Chemistry lab, 123 marks out of 100. The total shown for this student was 219 out of 600, whereas the marksheet added up to 675.Gupta said the exam cell provided the results to the online cell Tuesday after a thorough check. “A technical error created this mess,” said Gupta.Gupta said the corrected results will be uploaded on the website Thursday.
