Elon Musk has never shied away from expressing his views on OpenAI CEO Sam Altman publicly. The two tech CEOs have rarely looked eye to eye, and their differences resurfaced recently during an online exchange on X (formerly known as Twitter) where Musk who has often referred to Sam Altman as “Scam Altman” called him a “liar”. Earlier today, the Tesla CEO shared a Twitter post calling out Apple in “behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store”. Calling it an “unequivocal antitrust violation”, Musk said that his AI company xAI will “take immediate legal action” against Apple.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responds to Elon Musk’s post
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman replied to Elon Musk’s Twitter post, stating that the claim made by the X owner is “remarkable”. Sam Altman wrote:“This is a remarkable claim given what I have heard alleged that Elon does to manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn’t like.”Elon Musk hit back at Sam Altman. He wrote in the post:“You got 3M views on your bullshit post, you liar, far more than I’ve received on many of mine, despite me having 50 times your follower count!”
Elon Musk accuses Apple of favouritism
As mentioned above, the conflict started when xAI CEO Elon Musk announced that his company would pursue legal action against Apple. Musk’s frustration appears to be fueled by the fact that OpenAI’s ChatGPT currently holds the top spot among free apps on the App Store, while his own Grok chatbot ranks fifth. In a post, now pinned on Elon Musk’s profile, the Tesla CEO wrote: “Hey @Apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either 𝕏 or Grok in your “Must Have” section when 𝕏 is the #1 news app in the world and Grok is #5 among all apps? Are you playing politics? What gives? Inquiring minds want to know.”
