INDORE: Three unidentified men broke into residence of a businessman in Pragati Park Colony of Khudel in the early hours of Sunday and fled with cash and jewellery. The incident took place around 4:30 am.“On complaint of Ritvik Garg, a case was registered on Monday night and investigations have begun,” SP (Rural ) Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia said. Police said that the burglars first broke the main door and then targeted a bedroom cupboard.“Ritvik’s wife, children, and parents were asleep in two separate rooms in the house when the men struck. Initial probe suggests there were three people who broke into the house wearing masks and gloves, wielding iron rods and crowbars, and committed the crime,” SP Bhutia said. The crime was committed within four minutes. The thieves entered by cutting through an iron window grill, despite a security guard being present on the premises.Additional SP (Rural) Rupesh Dwivedi, DSP (Headquarters) Umakant Choudhary, forensic experts, and a sniffer dog team inspected the site but found no concrete leads.Bhutia said that on the same day, multiple thefts were reported in Indore rural and urban areas. “We have formed three teams to investigate the crime. One of the teams is checking the CCTV footage of all the areas and also collecting technical evidence. While the appearance of the accused in multiple cases looks the same, no comments can be made yet on whether it was the same gang which committed the crime,” he said. The SP said that thefts were reported in Amrit Green Colony (Simrol), another in Pragati Park (Khudel), as well as in Mhow, Pithampur, Banganga, and Lasudia. “The gang appears professional, using similar tools and gloves and masks in all cases,” Bhutia said.Ritvik, speaking to TOI, asked the media to respect their privacy and not to sensationalise the incident. “We will issue a statement once the police complete the investigation,” Ritvik told TOI.Ritvik’s father, Justice Ramesh Garg, is a retired Chief Justice of Gauhati high court.
